The Fair Housing Center of Greater Boston works to eliminate housing
discrimination and promote open communities throughout the region.
Organizational History
Before the organization’s founding in 1998 by a local civil rights and housing advocates and attorneys, Boston was the only major metropolitan region in the country without an organization specifically focusing on housing discrimination. A 1998 challenge grant from the Boston Foundation’s Community Benefit Fund, along with the matching funds it generated, provided critical start-up support for the FHCGB.
